Chess GM Liem to join 2012 Olympic torch relay

Liem was invited, even though no chess events will be held at the Olympics. He and Lan will join the rally along with more than 100 outstanding individuals from around the world.

The two young Vietnamese people are very popular for their remarkable achievements and great contributions to the country.

The torch relay is one of the traditional events held before the Games officially open. This year, 8,000 torchbearers will carry the Olympic torch for 70 days through more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages in the UK before returning to London and lighting the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony on July 27.
