Chess players compete at Quin Huangdao Open

 Five Vietnamese chess players are competing in the 1st Quin Huangdao Open Chess Tournament in Hebei, China from September 30- October 7. 

Two Grand Masters Le Quang Liem (elo 2717) and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son (elo 2664) are seeded no. 1 and no.7, respectively.

The three other players include Pham Le Thao Nguyen, Nguyen Thi Thanh An and Hoang Thi Bao Tram.

The event attracted 78 players from seven countries and territories around the world to play in nine rounds following the Swiss system for a total cash prize of US$78,000.

After the first three rounds Zhou Weipi from China and Negi Parimarjan from India share the first place in the rankings, having won all three matches. Son is now in tenth place with 2.5 points while his teammate Liem is in 16th place with 2 points.
