Clay jars create new Vietnamese record

Update: 23-03-2024 | 13:47:04

We have just had the opportunity to return to Tuong Binh Hiep ward in Thu Dau Mot city. When arriving at Ba Sang bridge, located on Ho Van Cong street, where a pair of clay dragon statues just recognized as the largest of its kind nationwide by the Vietnam Records Organization, we were surprised by the fact that many tourists still stopped to take photos. This showed that the uniqueness and beauty are always loved and honored by people.

A resident said that the local people felt very happy when their craft village was so famous. The images of their childhood wandering near potter kilns, where creeks meandered through the villages suddenly seemed to be revived in their memories. This is also a famous place for visitors to take photos, creating an "internet storm" during the recent (Lunar New Year) festival 2024... Many tourists in and out of the province have continuously visited and taken photos here.

Being attracted by this reputation, we went to Tam Giang pottery kiln, one of the ancient pottery kilns in Tuong Binh Hiep ward, where the pair of dragon statues' "unique" clay jars are made. The dragon statues are made from more than 14,000 clay jars and jugs, with each stretching for around 30 meters long.

To know the origin of these clay jars, readers are invited to learn through the stories of the owner of the Tam Giang jar kiln and craftsmen with more than 30 years of experience. They are very proud when their homeland's products are honored with the image of a dragon. They talk about the efforts and meticulousness in the process of making such unique jars. The clay jars used to make the body of the dragon mascot are produced manually, embossed with dragon patterns and burned by wood. To have these handmade products, craftsmen have to stay up late and wake up early and put in a lot of efforts to complete them.

And, to love more about one craft village, about clay jars that have set a Vietnamese record, please watch the "I love Binh Duong" program on Binh Duong e-Newspaper. The program is broadcast on Sunday morning, March 24 at baobinhduong.vn and on Binh Duong Newspaper's digital platforms: Facebook, Zalo...
