Climate change impacts materialized

Yesterday morning of October 30, Deputy Chair of People's Committee Tran Van Nam hosted a meeting of direct implementation of action plans coping with climate changes. The average temperature in the Binh Duong Province has exceeded the average of many years by nearly 0.5 degree Celsius; The water levels tend to rise by 0.3 cm a year with increased salinity in the Dong Nai and Sai Gon rivers. Rainfall, increased frequency of heavy rain, along with the impacts of peak tides have caused urban flooding and local inundation, elevation changes year on year. In Binh Duong Province, hazard weather phenomena has appeared such as tornadoes across the localities with unusually high temperatures. On the basis, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and its consultant proposed 32 prioritized projects from now until 2030.However, after the study they were reduced to 25 projects of community awareness improvement in terms of energy-saving, rescue drills to be prepared for disasters, the structural and non-response to climate changes. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Chair Tran Van Nam praised up the action plans coping with climate change, quite specifically and accurately. At the same time, the selected consultant agency is required to supplement a number of recommendations of the delegates at the meeting to complete before being approved by Provincial People's Committee. This plan is the scientific basis for departments, districts, towns, and the city to add up to the programs and related projects, contributing to community awareness improvement and limiting the effects of climate changes.
