They are expected to arrive in Danang on February 17 and stay 11 days.
Danang is the first official Southeast Asian host port for this 19-year-old yacht race. Australian professional skipper Wendy Tuck, 50, will lead the Danang-Vietnam team during the race with 58 crew members.
In addition to affirming the city’s capability of organising international events, the race’s global platform is an excellent opportunity for Vietnam and Danang to boost international trade, investment, their economies and tourism while enhancing social, cultural and diplomatic relations with many countries along the race route.
The event will stream live on CNN, BBC and Discovery with as many as 4.4 billion viewers.
