In particular, many units have creatively and flexibly implemented activities on environmental protection (EP), building a cultural and civilized lifestyle, contributing to raising awareness, forming habits, consciousness and actions of each person in communication and behavior towards the community and living environment.

Actions to protect the environment

In celebrating the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, last weekend, People's Committee and Trade Union of Phu Hoa Ward in Thu Dau Mot City jointly launched a program named "Battery House" - a solution to protect health and the environment, to raise awareness of the dangers of batteries to the living environment. Representatives of the City Labor Federation, Party Committee, People's Committee, the Ward’s Trade Union, related units, neighborhood management boards, and people in 9 neighborhoods attend the launching ceremony of the above meaningful project.

Ms. Tran Thi Mai, a resident of quarter 8, said that recently, the ward Women's Union has actively communicated the harmful effects of used batteries to female members as well as local people. The "Battery House" program is a practical way to help the authorities collect and treat waste batteries according to the correct process, ensuring safety for the environment and human health.

“Battery House” is located at the Phu Hoa Ward’s Office to collect used batteries.

Mr. Tran Lam Khuong, Vice Chairman of Phu Hoa Ward People's Committee, said that the harmful effects of battery waste are currently a pressing issue not only in our country but also facing the whole world. The development of technology and electronic devices has significantly increased the amount of discarded batteries released into the environment but not properly treated. Burning and burying batteries underground can cause a large amount of toxic chemicals in the batteries to seep into the soil and water sources, polluting the environment and directly harming people's health. “Therefore, the “Battery House” is a solution to protect health and the environment, mobilizing people to raise their awareness of the harmful effects of used batteries, thereby responding to the collection and treatment of batteries at the “Battery House”, limiting the impact on the environment...”, said Mr. Khuong.

Previously, also with the purpose of environmental protection, the Fatherland Front Committee of Tuong Binh Hiep ward introduced a "Communication and mobilization team for classifying domestic solid waste at source". Ms. Huynh Thi Hong Tham, Chairwoman of the Ward’s Fatherland Front Committee, said that the "Communication and Mobilization Team for the Classification of Domestic Solid Waste at Source" is responsible for disseminating and mobilizing people to join the classification of domestic solid waste at the source, at home; at the same time, encouraging people to fully comply with the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, legal documents related to domestic solid waste; on the principles of classifying domestic solid waste at source... The launch contributes to creating a habit for people to classify waste at home, joining hands to protect the environment.

Besides, the city's wards have been very creative in implementing "Civilized Saturday", which has received positive responses from the people.

Some wards also held thematic talks about the criteria of "3 no's", "4 good’s", "5 exemplary citizens", "Building a green city", "City without garbage"...

Ms. Nguyen Thu Cuc, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Thu Dau Mot City, said that recently, the city has focused on the "Urban Greenery Project in Binh Duong Province" and the implementation of the "greening" campaign of Thu Dau Mot City, building a "city without garbage"... The campaign and project have received support and consensus from local organizations and individuals, thus they have exceeded the set targets. “Many practical programs and movements have been carried out; festivals and activities in the area have taken place in a civilized and friendly manner, attracting the participation of a large number of people...”, Ms. Cuc added.

In fact, after two months of implementing "Civilized Saturday", civil servants, public employees, workers and people of all walks of life in Thu Dau Mot City actively responded to this with a high sense of responsibility.
