Update: 28-03-2022 | 12:12:38

On March 26, provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD) to organize a conference to promote the export of animals and their products.

The event was attended by Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Pernament Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of key localities in animal husbandry; relevant units under the MoARD; leaders of departments, sectors and localities in the province, livestock and processing enterprises for export.

At the conference

In 2021, despite being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the country's export of animals, their products and animal feed still grew at a high rate with US$1.5billion in turnover, in which there was an important contribution from the livestock sector. Binh Duong is one of the country’s leading localities in successfully building many disease-free zones, managing food safety at export requirements.

Although focusing on industrial development, the province has maintained the local livestock sector with stable development. The structure of the local livestock sector has been strongly transformed from household scale to farms with high-tech application in recent years. Up to now, the province has had a total of 912,000 pigs, 60% of which are under high-tech application. The province’s total poultry herd has reached about 13.9 million heads, over 70% of which are under high-tech application. Since 2016, the province’s total pig herd has increased by an average of 9%/year while the total number of poultry heads has grown by an average of 7%/year.

In the first 2 months of 2022, the province's livestock sector supplied the market with over 500,000 pigs and over 3.9 million chickens for meat. The local functional sectors implemented slaughtering control over 200,000 pigs and over 4 million poultry heads, thereby fully meeting the local demand for animals and their products; partially supplying for the southeastern region's consumption market and being towards export.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Dung said that the conference aimed at showing the attention of leaders of the MoARD, all-level authorities, sectors and localities in exporting animals and their products. This was considered as the start in connecting information between State agencies and enterprises to find solutions to promote the export of livestock products, contributing to constantly improving the value of the livestock sector in the coming time.

Mr. Dung said that raising the value of livestock products is a matter with great concern in the current period. Binh Duong province hopes that leaders of the MoARD, all-level authorities, sectors and localities will propose solutions and create favorable conditions to promote the production and export development of livestock products in order to increase the value of livestock products of the locality in particular and the country in general.
