From urban development…

In the last tenure, although the overall situation had many difficulties and challenges, Thuan An town Party Executive Committee promoted achievements of the precedent tenure, directed actively and effectively to implement focal tasks. Due to the closely coordination of the whole political system and efforts of all cadres and people to overcome difficulties, the implementation of the 10^th Party Congress Resolution achieved positive results. In particular, planning, investment, and development have been focused. Performing the general planning of urban Thuan An construction until 2020 – in the vision till 2030, town master plan on socio-economic development until 2020, up to 2014, Thuan An town was recognized as type 4 urban area. Currently, Thuan An town is mobilizing all resources to become type 3 urban area.

One of the key projects recently completed is Gia Long route in Lai Thieu ward. The project had a total investment of over VND228 billion. Mr. Huynh Van Son, Party Secretary of Lai Thieu ward, said: “This is a road in the Gia Long - Chau Van Tiep route along Lai Thieu canal. Thus we defined, this was the first step to gradually complete the road system, serving local people, attracting tourists, investments, enhancing local tourism, services”.

Confidence in the new term

Achievements in the last 5 years have been a motivation for Thuan An town Party Committee to utilize efficiently resources, strive to construct a civilized, modern urban Thuan An. Mr. Do Thanh Tam, Secretary of Thuan An town Party Committee, said, the 11^th Thuan An town Party Congress occurred in the urbanization process. Thus the main task of the Party in the coming period is to develop the town sustainably. In the new tenure, the municipal Party Committee will strive to utilize well all potentialities to improve technical socioeconomic infrastructure towards urban development in order for Thuan An to become a service – urban center after 2020.

To successfully implement the new Party Congress Resolution, the Party, government, and people of Thuan An town determined to develop the town towards industrial – urban – service center. Hopefully, due to the unity within the Party, government, and people, Thuan An town will continue to develop sustainably.

Achievements of Thuan An town in the 2010-2015 period:

Party building was strengthened. The town Party Committee has 47 cells, 140 cells at grassroots level, increasing 26 cells compared to the beginning of the term; admitted 713 new members, reaching 118.8%; promoted "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" movement under Directive 03-CT/TW of the Politburo; commended 100 collectives, 561 individuals.

Economic - service - agriculture structure was 70.5% - 29.2% - 0.3%; industrial production value increased 11.7% / year, domestic sector increased 13.3%, foreign investment sector increased 11%; total investment of social development accounted for about 48% of GDP.
