Contracts worth 2.3 million tonnes of rice signed for 2010

Update: 05-01-2010 | 00:00:00

Vietnam already has rice export contracts worth a total volume of 2.38 million tonnes for 2010, said Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) Pham Van Bay.

Mr. Bay noted that the price of delivered rice contracts is higher than the common price. In particular, 25% broken rice is USD480 per tonne at the lowest and USD664.9 per tonne at the highest.

As scheduled, Vietnam will ship nearly 1.47 million tonnes of rice in the first quarter of 2010.

By the end of 2009, Vietnam has exported nearly 6.1 million tonnes of rice, the highest-ever volume.
