Cooperative economy is a necessary motivation for the local socio-economic development, says provincial People’s Committee Vice-Chairman Tran Thanh Liem

Update: 02-04-2014 | 00:00:00

Late April 1, provincial People’s Committee Vice-Chairman Tran Thanh Liem had a working session with provincial Cooperative Alliance about the unit’s activities in Q1 and orientations in Q2 2014.

The province’s cooperative economy saw a stable development in the first  three months of the year. The whole province is now home to 320 cooperative groups with 5,233 members, 122 cooperatives with 53,274 members, 4 of which have just been established. So far, they have worked effectively, contributing to creating jobs for the local laborers.

Also during the period, provincial Support Fund for Cooperative Development disbursed more than VND16bln in loan for some cooperatives to expand production and business. But, cooperatives found it difficult to get access to this support fund. The Law on Cooperatives 2012 took effect from July 1, 2013, but there has not yet been a circular to guide the implementation of the law…

At the working session, Mr.Liem spoke highly of achievements done by province-based cooperatives and affirmed that cooperative economy was a driving force for the local socio-economic development. He also said that provincial Cooperative Alliance needed to organize tours to advanced models on cooperative economy in other localities to promote the local cooperative economy.
