On May 4, Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a video conference of the Provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention Control with districts, towns and cities. After the holiday of April 30 and May 1, the number of Covid-19 cases in the province plummeted and becomes stable; hence the province advocates converting the capacity of mobile medical stations to prevent and combat seasonal infectious diseases.

Covid-19 pandemic is declining

During the holiday of April 30 and May 1, the province recorded 155 new Covid-19 cases, down 60.8% from seven days ago, with an average of 22 new cases per day. The number of infection cases recovering from the disease and completing treatment was 885 cases. Also in the last week, medical treatment facilities received 15 hospitalization cases of Covid-19, of which 11 severe cases received mechanical ventilation, down 22.2% from the previous week. In the past 14 days, the province did not record any deaths. In the past 30 days, the number of new cases was 4,551 cases, 17 times lower than the previous month (77,194 cases in March). Assessing the epidemic level during the week, 91/91 communes and wards of townships were of level 1 (new normal). Currently, the province is treating 23 patients, of which the first tier had 6 patients, the second 12 patients, and the third 5 patients. The number of patients having mild symptoms and being treated at home was 4,164.

Covid-19 pandemic is declining sharply, mobile health stations are transforming their operations to suit the new situation.

At the video conference, leaders of districts, cities and members of the Provincial Covid-19 Steering Committee all said that the number of F0 cases was going down sharply after the holiday; but seasonal diseases, such as dengue fever, hand foot and mouth disease are developing rapidly. Pham Van Bay, Vice Chairman of Di An City People's Committee, said: "Currently, the city no longer has F0 cases treated at second tier, at-home treatment has 43 cases. While waiting for the reorganization of medical stations, the city maintains 1 ward/1 mobile health station to assist the prevention and control of seasonal infectious diseases."

Speaking at the meeting, Nguyen Loc Ha said the Covid-19 in the province became much weaker. Especially during the recent holiday, public activities increased but the number of infections decreased significantly. For several days, the province did not recorded patients dying from Covid-19. In recent weeks, localities in the province have simultaneously carried out a campaign to vaccinate children under 12 years old against Covid-19 and gained high results.

Nguyen Loc Ha asked the health branch and localities to continue the vaccination for children under 12 years old, monitor the process of vaccination and post-vaccination, coordinate with schools and families to closely monitor children after vaccination to handle timely if there are side effects. The data entry for the immunization gate should be accelerated further, remedy errors and delays. The health branch is in charge of collaborating with related branches to develop a vaccination plan for the people and migrant workers in Binh Duong in April, develop a vaccination plan for the fourth jab...

To convert the capacity of mobile medical stations

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Huynh Minh Chin, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Health, said that after the recent holiday, Covid-19 cases decreased sharply. But it is now summertime, it rains frequently, which is a favorable condition for infectious diseases to break out. In order to proactively prevent and combat summer diseases, the health authority converts the operational capacity of mobile medical stations to seasonal epidemic prevention and control. Accordingly, mobile medical stations, in addition to performing covid-19 preventing and combating tasks, implement activities to prevent and combat diseases transmitted through the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, diarrhea caused by Rota virus, hand, foot and mouth, dysentery, typhoid, measles, flu, dengue fever, viral encephalitis, Japanese encephalitis ...

Because preschool children and students have now returned to school, the risk of outbreaks and spread of diseases in schools is great if we do not drastically implement prevention and combat measures. The Provincial Department of Health asked medical units in the province to intensify health education for people, coordinate with the education branch to propagate extensively in schools and kindergartens the prevention and combat measures against summer epidemics 2022.

Particularly, to implement the policy of establishing and converting mobile health stations into a permanent health station, the Department of Health held a meeting with Department of Home Affairs, Department of Finance, Department of Justice, Department of Investment Planning, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, People's Committee of districts, towns and cities and 9 medical centers to agree on the plan.

The Department of Health proposed three basic plans for mobile health stations, including: Option 1 is to increase the payroll for commune, ward and town health stations; Option 2, focusing on communes and wards with a population of more than 50,000 people, medical stations shall be established to enhance the ability to provide services; Option 3 is to establish more commune, ward and town health stations on the basis of permanent health stations. After the meeting, the units agreed with the plan to increase the payroll for health stations of communes, wards and towns. This plan will contribute to transforming the capacity of mobile medical stations and strengthening grassroots medical services to meet people's health care requirements in the new situation.
