Cuban official: Vietnam's unification greatly affects world situation

Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera, head of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC)'s External Affairs Commission has noted that Vietnam's unification greatly affected the world situation and was an important event to the people of Cuba.

Cabrera, who visited the country to attend the 40th anniversary of the southern liberation and national unification made the statement during a meeting with Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City municipal Party Committee, Vo Van Thuong in Ho Chi Minh City on May 1.

He spoke highly of the special friendship between the CPC and the Communist Party of Vietnam, the two states and the two peoples while expressing his belief that the bilateral ties would flourish in politics, diplomatic relations, economics and trade.

Thuong expressed his gratitude to the Cuban guest for his participation in the national anniversary, saying that Vietnamese people's victory against American imperialism received great contributions from many countries around the world, including Cuba, and that Vietnam would never forget the support given by internationals friends.

He affirmed the unchanged special solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba and that Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam would wholeheartedly support the Latin American country in its national defence and construction.

Thuong extended his best wishes to Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro.
