The International Circus Festival 2022 officially kicked off at the Hanoi Central Circus on December 2, bringing together nine art troupes from home and abroad.
The event is jointly held by the Performing Arts Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of International Cooperation, the Hanoi municipal Department of Culture and Sports, the Vietnam Association of Theater Artists, and the Vietnam Circus Federation.
The nine art troupes include Vietnamese representatives from the Phuong Nam Art Theatre, Vietnam Circus Federation, Hanoi Circus Arts Theatre, and the Vietnam School of Circus and Variety Arts, in addition to 5 international troupes from Canada, Belarus, Laos, Cambodia, and Egypt.
The artists will dazzle the audience with 29 circus acts in various forms of acrobatics, juggling, balance, magic, and clowning.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed that the festival is an international art and cultural event of great significance, in the context when circus art and other art forms around the world, are on the way to recovering after two years of being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event provides an opportunity for Vietnam to promote the culture, and beauty of hospitable Vietnam to international friends, he said.
Following the opening ceremony, domestic and international circus artists started the competition with many attractive performances.
The closing and award-presentation ceremony of the festival will take place on December 7, at the Central Circus, Hanoi.
