Cycling race to mark Martyrs Day

The “Return to Truong Son” cycling tournament (Vietnam People’s Army Newspaper Cup) will officially begin in Hanoi on July 15, as announced by the organizing board on July 11. The competition features 65 local racers from 12 teams nationwide and is part of the activities to mark the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27). This year’s event will also include foreign cyclists from the US, China, and Canada. The participants will race nearly 800 kilometers in six stages The competitors will begin the race at Hoan Kiem (Restored Sword) Lake in Hanoi on July 15, and finish at the ancient Quang Tri citadel in the central province of Quang Tri on July 20. During the race, the cyclists and the sponsors will visit and present gifts to needy people, heroic Vietnamese mothers, and families of martyrs and war invalids. The individual winner will be awarded VND20 million in cash while the top team will receive VND30 million. VOV
