Dau Tieng district and the economic hightlights

Update: 30-07-2022 | 16:27:57

Many times of having the opportunity to work at communes and towns in Dau Tieng district, we have been initially impressed by the green stretches, in which, in addition to the rubber forests planted decades ago, in the now communes and towns, large-scale livestock and farming farms have been gradually formed.

Trade and service economy in Dau Tieng continues to develop to meet the needs of local people

Areas of fruit orchards increased sharply

Statistics of the last 5 years of the People's Committee of Dau Tieng district shows that the area of rubber cultivation in the area tends to decrease by an average of 50 - 70 hectares per year, making up to now, the total area of rubber plantation in the area of about 49,550 hectares. Corresponding to the rate of decrease of rubber plantation area is a significant increase of area under cultivation of specialty fruit trees in the area. Specifically, by mid-2022, Dau Tieng district had 780 hectares of specialized fruit growing areas as this number increased by 4% compared to the same period in 2021.

Talking to us, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Linh, Chairman of Dau Tieng District People's Committee, said that in 2021-2025 and vision to 2030, the district strives to restructure agriculture in the area. Accordingly, in the coming time, the district will actively support farmers to access preferential loans, effective agricultural economic models, modern technological lines and stable market output for farmers to enjoy peace of mind in production and business operations. Mr. Linh hopes that by the support of the locality, people will step by step make the transition from inefficient traditional models to large-scale, modern and highly efficient models. After successfully building effective farm economic models, the district will integrate and establish eco-tours along the riverside to orchards, helping people increase their income.

According to our survey, currently, some specialty fruits of Dau Tieng district have been highly appreciated and trusted by consumers inside and outside the province. In which, Thanh Tuyen mangosteen can typically be mentioned along with Thanh An durian and banana, An Lap orange, Minh Hoa pomelo and mandarin among others, which are typical names recognized for meeting OCOP standards for many consecutive years.

Harmony for development

Dau Tieng district determines the socio-economic development plan in the direction of balancing and harmonizing sectors, in which, developing industrial zones and clusters create leverage for the economy. After attracting a large number of workers to work in industrial zones and clusters, the district continues to arrange housing areas for low-income people, and gradually forming residential areas, and creating conditions for living to promote trade and services development.

Mr. Tran Quang Tuyen, Standing Deputy Chairman of Dau Tieng district People's Committee, said that by the end of June 2022, the total value of products in the district was estimated at VND 9,897 billion, increasing by 14.31% over the same period last year of 2021. In which, the value of industrial and construction production was VND 4,607 billion, increasing by 18.6% over the same period; the value of commercial production and services was VND 3,734.8 billion, increasing by 13.2% over the same period; agricultural production value was VND 1,555 billion, increasing by 5.5% over the same period. Mr. Tuyen said that compared to other industrial cities in the south of the province, this is probably quite a modest number, but compared to Dau Tieng itself 10 years ago, this is an impressive and remarkable growth.

Although the geographical position is not very favorable for industrial development planning; however, by the support of the province, the district has so far laid the first bricks of creating a premise for future development. Besides Thanh An industrial cluster which is operating stably, Dau Tieng has planned more than 8,000 hectares of rubber land as a land fund for the development of industrial zones and clusters in the area. Mr. Nguyen Phuong Linh said that Dau Tieng does not have a policy to compete with other localities in attracting industrial investment, but only focuses on the fields of industry and processing of strong products. Specifically, from now to 2030, Dau Tieng district will focus on attracting investment and developing industrial zones and clusters related to rubber latex processing, wood processing and livestock processing. These are strong products and have been the main economic spearhead of the district for many generations.
