Dau Tieng makes efforts to get a stable development in animal husbandry

In recent years, Dau Tieng district’s animal husbandry sector has a high growth, greatly contributing to the local agricultural production. The district is focusing on promoting the local animal husbandry under the industrial trend.

Upholding strong points

The district’s animal husbandry sector has made a strong shift in the local agricultural structure. In 2005, its proportion accounted for 1.77% of the local agricultural structure. The figure was 13.89% in 2013.

In the first half of 2014, the district has developed additional 12 chicken farms with 107,000 chickens and 8 pig farms with 9,850 pigs. The whole district is now home to 74 chicken farms with a total of more than 590,000 chickens and 70 pig farms with a total of nearly 77,970 pigs.

Nguyen Tan Luc, Head of Dau Tieng district’s Division of Economics said that the district’s People’s Committee has set a detailed plan on concentrated animal husbandry under the industrial trend in association with the tasks of slaughtering, processing and environmental treatment. Under the plan, the district will enjoy favorable conditions for the local animal husbandry to reach a stable development.

Application of sci-tech advancements in animal husbandry

Dau Tieng district has paid more attention to application of sci-tech advancements into animal husbandry, bringing high economic efficiency. Particularly, the local farmers have bravely got involved in the models of raising super-lean pigs, super-lean poultry, dairy cows…

Most animal husbandry farms in the district have been invested in a synchronous way from breeding animals, facilities, animal feed, veterinary to waste treatment with the state-of-the-art equipment. Especially, the local farmers have designed closed breeding facilities, taken initiative in controlling over temperature to reduce diseases on cattle and poultry for high productivity.

Tong Van Huong, the owner of an air-conditioned chicken farm in Minh Hoa commune said that the model of raising chickens in an air-conditioned farm has brought high economic efficiency. The model has helped him reduce costs. So far, he has raised chickens in an air-conditioned farm of 6 hectares, bringing his family a great source of income.

Till now, animal husbandry farms have loomed large across the district. Truong Van Dung, Chairman of the district’s People’s Committee affirmed that animal husbandry has played an important role in agriculture as well as economic development of the district, contributing to bringing great success to the district’s program on the shift of animal and plant structure, creating jobs for the local people and raising their lives. The innovation of the district’s agricultural production structure has also greatly contributed to helping the local animal husbandry sector reach a sustainable development
