Dau Tieng’s ratio of poor households to be reduced to 1.5% by year end

Dau Tieng district now has 633 poor households or 2.14% of total population and 482 poor-near households or 1.63% of total population.

In the first half of 2013, Dau Tieng district took many measures to ensure social welfare, contributing to the local target on poverty reduction. Particularly, the district teamed up with banks and credit funds to disburse more than VND5.7bln in loan for more than 1,600 households; organized 11 vocational training classes for 300 rural laborers and introduced jobs to more than 1,000 others. The district’s Fatherland Front Committee and other mass organizations also mobilized organizations and individuals to build 16 unity houses, 1 gratitude houses and 5 houses of compassion with total value of more than VND670mln. One of key tasks set out by the district’s Party Executive Committee at its 20th congress for the 2010 and 2015 tenure was to boost measures to reduce the local ratio of poor households to 1.5% by the end of 2013.
