Dau Tieng speeds up models on raising wild animals

Update: 17-04-2014 | 00:00:00

There are now 99 households in Dau Tieng district registering to raise 14 wild animal species, including tibetan bear, crocodile, varan, tortoise, cross-bred wild boar, porcupine…, with a total of 8,628 animals.

Most of the above breeding households have operated under the control of the district’s forest management sector and Division of Natural Resources and Environment. The value of the animal husbandry models is estimated at around VND8bln per hectare per year. But, the district’s models of raising wild animals has went down, due to their unstable consumption market.

Realizing that raising wild animals is a sector with hi-economic value, Dau Tieng district has made a plan to promote models on raising wild animals. As planned, the district will focus on developing these models, seeking a stable consumption market for them, aiming at export to be able to generate regular jobs for the local rural laborers.
