Deploying additional polio vaccination in 2022

Update: 10-05-2022 | 12:00:09

In order to maintain the results of polio eradication and prevention, provincial Department of Health has set up a plan on the implementation of additional polio vaccine (IPV). Subjects are children born from March 1, 2016 to February 28, 2018 who have not been vaccinated with IPV in routine immunization.

Especially in this round of vaccination, the local health sector does not give IPV vaccination to those who have received a combination vaccine containing polio component. It is expected that the injection will be deployed from May 10 to 30. In this round, the whole province will have about 85,800 children vaccinated with IPV. However, the local health sector is further investigating, making a specific list of children who need to be vaccinated at school and in the community. The goal of the plan is to strive for a rate equal to or over 90% of subjects receiving 1 additional dose of IPV, ensuring the safety and quality of the injection session as prescribed.

Since 2016, the province has stopped using oral polio vaccine tOPV, switched to using bOPV for children under 1 year of age at 2, 3, and 4 months of age in routine vaccination and simultaneously deployed IPV for polio prevention.
