Deputy PM welcomes Obama assistant

Evan Medeiros, special assistant to US President Barack Obama, was received by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh on July 14.

Medeiros made the visit to discuss measures for the two countries’ future comprehensive partnership to work for peace, stability, co-operation and development in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world.

Minh expressed his satisfaction with the positive progress of Vietnam-US relations in many fields, from politics-diplomacy, economics-trade, and education to security-defence and collaboration at regional and international forums.

He noted that the comprehensive partnership, established by the two countries one year ago, has improved bilateral ties.

Medeiros’s visit aims to seek to speed up bilateral ties as well as co-operation in several regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement and the East Sea situation.

Both sides discussed specific contents in Vietnam-US ties and issues in the Asia-Pacific.
