Development motivation from science and technology

Binh Duong is solidifying its status as a vibrant economic hub in the Southern region. Binh Duong Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 (referred to as the Provincial Planning) emphasizes the role of science - technology and innovation (ST&I) are key drivers to achieve the set planning goals.

Perfect science and technology infrastructure

Binh Duong is investing heavily in ST&I infrastructure, including the development of a concentrated information technology and innovation park with 4 sub-zones covering an area of about 220 hectares in Binh Duong New City. This area has the functions of research, development, training and attracting high-quality human resources, pilot production, product transfer and commercialization; playing an important role in research, training, pilot production and technology transfer. In addition, Binh Duong focuses on expanding digital infrastructure, with projects to deploy 5G technology, build data centers and develop startup incubators to support technology businesses from the idea stage to actual implementation.

Binh Duong also establishes an education and training ecosystem and develops ST&I centers in many areas of the province, such as Thu Dau Mot City, Di An City, and Bau Bang District. High-tech agricultural and forestry zones have also been deployed in Phu Giao, Bac Tan Uyen and Dau Tieng districts to promote the application of scientific and technological advances.

These efforts help Binh Duong consolidate the foundation for sustainable development, enhance competitiveness, and ensure long-term benefits in the province's international economic integration process.

The push from science and technology

Binh Duong is one of the most dynamically developing provinces and cities in Vietnam, orienting its economic development towards a multi-sector and multi-field manner to meet the requirement of sustainable growth in the new period. This development strategy focuses on the processing and manufacturing industry, high-quality services, and high-tech agriculture. At the same time, ST&I is identified as a key factor, playing a driving role in promoting comprehensive development of all economic sectors of the province. Binh Duong aims to build a comprehensive innovation ecosystem, including research and development (R&D) centers, startup incubators, and modern digital infrastructure.

Binh Duong encourages cooperation between businesses, research institutes and universities to promote R&D activities, along with supporting technology transfer and product commercialization. The construction of high-tech zones, large data centers, and 5G networks throughout the province will be a solid foundation for digital transformation, improving labor productivity and creating high-value-added products and services. Development of science, technology, and innovation not only helps Binh Duong's industries, services, and agriculture improve their competitiveness but also contributes to promoting sustainable development, creating a favorable business environment, and improving the quality of life for people.

Dr. Nguyen Viet Long, Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, emphasized that one of the crucial roles of the science and technology sector, which provincial leaders prioritize and assign to the department, is to facilitate connections between the "three pillars" (Government - Enterprises - Institutes/Schools) and ensure smooth and effective coordination among them and with experts. To carry out assigned tasks, over the past time the Department of Science and Technology advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue the Science Technology & Innovation Development Program serving smart urban development in the period 2021-2030, vision to 2040.

Accordingly, the program clearly defines in each stage, the science and technology sector conducts large-scale scientific technological projects/programs to organize, cooperate in research, deploy applications, propose new policies with enterprises as the center, institutes/schools are stronger research subjects, apply new technologies into programs to bring great and overall efficiency to different fields in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the province.

According to the Provincial Planning, in the coming time, Binh Duong will develop science and technology organizations, science and technology activities, and attract institutes/schools to invest. Binh Duong also promotes the development of innovation centers; develops communities, scientists, associations and unions to form a common community in the field of science and technology.
