Today (April 27), Di An city solemnly celebrates the 48th anniversary of the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2023), International Labor Day (May 1), the 133th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023) and announced a decision of recognizing it as a second-class city.

Rebound from breakthrough program

From a locality with economy mainly being agriculture and home industry, after nearly 30 years, the Party, government and people of Di An city have been proactive, creative, determined to make efforts and promote all the local advantages in order to build Di An homeland into a civilized, rich and beautiful city with economic structure towards trade - service, industry and agriculture.

Di An has met criteria of a second-class II city towards modernity, civilization and sentimental attachment

Pham Van Bay, Vice-Chairman of Di An city’s People's Committee said that the Party, government and people of the city were very proud when Di An city was recognized as a second-class city. This is an important motivation for the Party, government and people of the city to further overcome all difficulties and challenges, mobilizing all resources to implement plans, tasks and solutions for socio-economic development, realize targets and resolutions of the city’s Party Committee and People’s Council.

The rebound in Di An city is to continue effectively implementing the city’s Party Committee’s breakthrough program on developing high-quality trade and services in the 2016-2022 period, with a vision to 2025 and the development program of high-quality services, meeting requirements on industrial and urban development towards civilization and modernity in the period of 2021-2025, orientation to 2025-2030 and a vision to 2045.

According to Pham Van Bay, the city’s People's Committee has focused on building medical facilities, upgrading and expanding preschools, primary and secondary schools to ensure national standards; upgrading traditional markets, headquarters of People's Committees of wards and quarters; encouraging investment in socialization of private sports and fitness facilities, education facilities, supermarkets, commercial centers in new urban areas, etc., contributing to making Di An become a worth-living and civilized place with sentimental attachment.

Faster, more comprehensive and sustainable development

Nguyen Tan Hung, Director of Di An city’s State Treasury said that he was very proud when Di An achieved the criteria of a second-class city. “We always try our best, making positive contributions to the city’s development…”. Not only officials and Party members, every Di An citizen is also very proud of the city’s strong development. Tran Le Minh, a resident of Di An city’s Di An ward shared: "I have lived for more than 15 years in Di An city and I feel very proud of the city’s dynamic and comprehensive development. Similarly, Nguyen Van Huyen, living in Tan Dong Hiep ward’s Dong Chieu quarter in Di An city shared: “My family has been in Di An city’s Tan Dong Hiep ward for more than 15 years. We are very proud of the city’s achievements and hope that the local government will further create conditions for people to live and work in peace and contentment so that everyone can make their best efforts to contribute to the common development of the city”.

We have recorded the Party's will, the people's hearts, and the pride and excitement in Di An city in the past few days. Many works are urgently being carried out for urban rejuvenation. The works in celebration of Di An city to become a second-class city have been completed. For example, Chau Thoi primary school with an area of nearly 10,000 square meter will receive more than 1,000 students in the 2023-2024 school year, with total investment of more than VND102 billion. This is also the province’s first school with a modern swimming pool for students…

For nearly 30 years, with the efforts by the entire Party, army and people, Di An city has created the local important achievements in particular and contributed to the development of the province in general. Facing with requirements to build a civilized, modern, and compassionate Di An city, the Party, government and people of the city will make more efforts, uphold the local advantages, inherit achievements, creating new positions and forces to promote the city's faster, more comprehensive and sustainable development.

Mr. Bay said that the Party, government and people of Di An city are determined to maintain and continue upholding the tradition of patriotism, hard work and creativity in order to develop Di An city into a civilized, modern and compassionate city, joining hands with the province and the whole country to achieve the goal of "Rich people, strong country, democracy, justice, and civilization”.

To become a dynamic, rich, beautiful, civilized, compassionate city, Di An city is currently focusing on urban planning. Basically, the city has completed the adjustment of urban development planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. According to the local development orientation, by 2030, Di An city will be a service, industrial- educational city, a traffic hub by road, railway and part of waterway of the Southern region of Binh Duong and the Eastern region of Ho Chi Minh city.
