Di An promotes models on urban agriculture

Di An town has effectively maintained models on urban agriculture. For example, seven households have got involved in the model of growing oyster mushroom with a total area of 700sq.m; three households with the model of growing bean sprouts with 160sq.m; three households with the model of growing safe vegetables with 0.3 hectares; 40 households with the model of growing orchid and other ornamental plants with nearly 9 hectares. 

The above models have greatly contributed to supplying safe farm produce for the local people and those in neighboring regions, helping the local farmers secure the average monthly income of between VND10mln and VND20mln. Together with economic value, they have contributed to improving the local urban environment and people’s health.

To further promote models on urban agriculture in line with the local development orientations, it is expected that Di An town’s Plant Protection Station in May will carry out two pilot models: “Nutritional vegetable garden in family” and “Growing tangerine and guava in pots” at two households in Tan Binh ward.
