Di An’s Labor Union puts focus on building up a qualified workforce

Di An district is home to more than 150,000 workers. Realizing that workers play an important role for the local industrialization and modernization process, the district’s Labor Union has always paid attention to their spiritual and material lives…

The district now has 6 industrial parks, 2 industrial compounds and 737 businesses. Most of these businesses have set up working regulations, 447 salary payroll scales for workers with the average income of VND1.2mln-VND1.6mln per capita per month. The whole district also has 233 grassroots conciliation, labor protective councils and 98 mass labor deals; 70% of laborers joining the insurance.

 

Over the past time, the district’s Labor Union, in collaboration with relevant agencies, dealt with 136 complaints, 80 labor disputes; organized 4 meetings between local leaders and businesses, trade union locals’ officials, laborers; opened training courses on labor safety and fire prevention for more than 10,000 workers; gave legal consultancy to nearly 700 laborers…The district-based businesses also paid attention to the labor protection task.

 

Apartedly, the district’s trade union locals focused on improving laborers’ own professional ability, helping them meeting businesses’requirements. They teamed up with vocational training facilities to open vocational-oriented classes for 1,565 laborers…They also promoted many emulation movements among laborers. As many as 7,655 collectives and individuals were honored for their good performance in the emulation movements…

 

The district’s Labor Union also boosted education on the State’s policies and laws, including the law on gender equality, the law against family violence…among female workers, while launching  the emulation movement “two good things” in association with the campaign “women actively study, creatively work and nurture happy families”.

 

As of early this year, the whole district had 262 trade union locals with 22,213 unionists. The district’s Labor Union also frequently joined hands with mass organizations to organize conferences for laborers, helping them have more mutual understanding for solidarity and development.
