With the new school year approaching, the school supplies market in Binh Duong is also "hotter" as many parents and students look to buy books, uniforms, shoes, and other preparations for their children.
Supermarkets and bookstores stock a wide variety of products and provide ample choices, offering maximum convenience for shoppers.
Prices are stable, purchasing power increases
At this time, some large bookstores in Binh Duong province, such as Binh Duong Culture and Trade Joint Stock Company (Fabico), Binh Duong Educational Equipment Book Joint Stock Company (Bibeco), Phuong Nam bookstores (at Aeon Mall Binh Duong), Nguyen Van Cu, Tien Tho bookstores (Thuan An City), and private ones, have been crowded with people coming in and out at any time.
In a competitive market economy, bookstores invest in a wide variety of products, both domestically produced and imported. Not only are they rich in designs and types, but they also plan in quantity; they even invest in scientific and eye-catching decorations and displays so that customers can easily find them.
Particularly for items serving the new school year, such as notebooks, pens, and school bags... bookstores are very diverse in design and type and have relatively stable prices. Some can be mentioned are “Made-in-Vietnam” school bags with selling price ranges from 250,000-750,000 VND/bag. Brands from Thailand, Japan, China, and Korea range from 800,000-1 million VND/bag. Prices for notebooks and pens are also quite diverse, depending on the quality of paper and brand name. Notebooks from brands of Ngoc Hai, Phuong Nam, Vinh Tien... have prices ranging from 7,000-12,500 VND/book. The above price is relatively stable compared to previous years.
According to bookstore managers, the prices of books and school supplies have not changed much this year compared to last year. However, the purchasing power of these items has increased by about 10-20% compared to the same period last year, depending on each item and product. In particular, domestic school supplies account for the majority, up to 80% of the displayed products.
Explaining why school supplies produced by Vietnamese brand names are gradually dominating the market, Ms. Do Thi Nu, Deputy Director of Bibeco Binh Duong, said that domestic school supply manufacturers increasingly invest in Vietnamese products to improve designs and quality, reduce costs, and promote brands and products to consumers. Therefore, sales of Vietnamese products are pretty stable.
Many parents said that “Made-in-Vietnam” schoolbags, ballpoint pens, and scissors are very good in quality and design and not inferior to imported products. Furthermore, the price is only 2/3 of imported products, so most parents prefer domestically produced ones.
To stimulate demand for Vietnamese goods
According to bookstore staff, the highlight of the school supplies market in recent years has been that Vietnamese goods increasingly have many new products such as school supplies made of plastic, environmentally friendly materials, book covers, pens, notebooks, pen cases with many lovely designs and cheerful colors... For school bags and backpacks, producers introduced many new product models to the market with additional functions of anti-hunchback, anti-scoliosis, shoulder dislocation... Domestic supply sources are quite abundant; customers also prioritize domestic products, so manufacturers also directly discount prices on many products from 15-20% or give gifts.
Besides, in the difficult economic context, people are tightening their spending. In addition to discounts when buying in large quantities, companies and bookstores also launch their promotional programs, giving away many gifts and discounts to stimulate customer demand.
When choosing school supplies for her daughter, Ms. Le Thu Trang, who lives in Tan Dinh ward, Ben Cat city, and has two children in grades 10 and 12 this year, said that before the new school year, school supplies for the year are mainly Vietnamese products, with many creative designs. She always buys and supports Vietnamese products. She often buys from reputable book publishing companies to avoid counterfeit products, which pose a potential safety risk and affect her child's learning.
As the opening day of school approaches, the demand to purchase textbooks and school supplies is expected to increase. Supermarkets and bookstores have fully prepared school supplies, adding many new product codes to diversify choices and create maximum convenience for people shopping for students in the new school year. However, choosing genuine products that suit your conditions is not easy. Therefore, parents should find reputable and trustworthy sellers to get quality products, good designs, and reasonable prices.
Bookstores and supermarkets are offering promotions to attract customers who are preparing for the new school year. From August 5 to August 18, 2024, Fabico bookstore is offering discounts of up to 50% on books, stationery, school supplies, and toys. Phuong Nam Bookstore has the "Back to School - Super Cute School Supplies" program, with discounts of up to 30% on select products. Supermarkets such as Co.opmart, Lotte Mart, Aeon Mall Binh Duong, Go!, and Big C are also offering discounts ranging from 20% to 40% on school supplies, including uniforms. |
