Draft Biodiversity Action Plan under research

Binh Duong is a Southeastern province under the Southern key economic zone. The locality possesses a stable geology and temperate climate in comformity with construction and industrial tree growing. Besides, the province was used to be a bio-diversity center. Such advantaged elements have helped the province spur economic development and local industrialization and modernization. 

From now till late 2010, the province targets to increase industry and service rate, turn its potentials into advantages for investment attraction, hi-tech development. Notably, the locality will become a city by 2020.

Therefore, researches of draft Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) till 2015 and orientations till 2020 in line with the PM’s decision No.79/2007/QD-TTg dated May 31, 2007 on the national Biodiversity Action Plan till 2010 and orientations towards 2020 will cater for local socio-economic development planning sustainably.

 

Binh Duong new city in the future.

At present, the province has no longer natural forest areas to create bio-diversity conservation areas while urbanization process has been taking place strongly. Therefore, BAP Binh Duong will focus on establishing regional natural parks to conserve heritages of culture, nature, landscape, tourism for the sake of socio-economic growth and living environment balance.

With the duration of 12 months (from July, 2009 to July, 2010) and the expense of VND267.7mil, the draft BAP have concerntrated on surveys, information and document collection for conserving and developing bio-diversity on land, using bio-diversity resources sustainably and spurring the state management on bio-diversity…

It is hoped that the draft’s results will impact on training and fostering work for scientific research. In terms of relevant scientific areas, the project will provide information on environment and natural resources. As for socio-economy, it will attach with socio-economic development, environmental, tourism planning, eco-urban area development and so on. These activities will spur Binh Duong’s sustainable development.
