Drug prices rise again

Update: 16-03-2010 | 00:00:00

Thu Dau Mot town-based drug stores’ owners said that the prices of drugs produced in the country and foreign nations are on the rise from 5-15% compared to the previous period. Accordingly, the prices of western medicines for diseases of heart failure, high blood pressure, diabetes and so on have increased by VND5,000-7,000 per box.

Earlier, prices of drugs made by foreign companies such as Sanofi Aventis, Janssen Cilag, Gedeon Richter and Egis surged by VND2,000-10,000 per box. Meanwhile, prices of drugs made in Vietnam were also on the rise.

The reason of the drug price hike is from the increase of exchange rate and input price.
