In the morning of May 30th, Vietnam’s Oil group of Petrovietnam and TPC bidding complex held a ceremony to hand over Dung Quat refinery that was invested over USD 3 billion by designation of government to Petrovietnam.

The refinery has capacity of 6.5 million tons a year, satisfying over 30% of oil and petroleum demand of the nation.

During the years of 1999 to 2003, the construction was in cooperation with Russia Federation at 50/50 capital contribution.

Due to many different reasons, by February 2003 the project officially became self-invested by Vietnam. By February 22nd, 2009, the refinery produced first line of products. And by May 25th, the testing operation has proved to be successful with 100% of the designed capacity, ensuring safety of all types of high quality products as designed and certified.

By the end of May 2010, Dung Quoc refinery has processed over 3.2 tons of products, of which 3.0 tons have been consumed in the market.

Some 7 products of the refinery has claimed gold medal at 2010 International Trade Fair.
