An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted a site 29km east-northeast of Cortes city, Bohol province, the Philippines, at 19:53:48 GMT on May 31.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter, at a depth of 4.04 km, was initially determined to be at 9.37 degrees north latitude and 126.61 degrees east longitude.
No tsunami warning was released and no fatalities were reported after the quake.
Some minutes later, a similar earthquake occurred at a place 179km east-northeast of Fiji’s Ndoi island
