Grasping the needs of the market and consumer trends, farmers in North Tan Uyen district are raising their awareness, applying good production processes in agriculture to create clean products, reduce costs, save energy sources... Besides, they have used advanced technologies to overcome and control the environment, reduce the pollution of land and water resources towards construction for the safe brand of the area specializing in citrus fruit cultivation. Ho Cong Truong, the owner of Green Hill farm in Hieu Liem commune said that the farm has an area of nearly 25 hectares specializing in growing oranges, tangerines and grapefruits under the VietGAP process with traceability, products with logos, labels ensuring quality to serve consumers.

According to leaders of the district, the total area of VietGAP-certified citrus fruit trees production facilities in Hieu Liem commune is 1,357 hectares. Currently, there are about 60 households growing citrus fruit trees on a commodity scale, accounting for more than 90% of the total area of citrus fruit trees in the commune. Mai Duc Quy, Chairman of Hieu Liem communal People's Committee said that the local people have applied good agricultural production processes towards organic models. All the local households have used an economical irrigation system, equipped with equipment to store pesticide packaging in the garden, then collected and took them to the commune's centralized garbage tank and destroyed them under the regulations. Garbage in the local gardens is mainly twigs and damaged fruits, collected and buried by people to create organic fertilizer.

In addition, households mainly use water directly from Dong Nai and Be rivers, so they do not dig reserve ponds. All households have used an economical irrigation system, with water provided accurately, just being enough for the best growth. This method not only helps save costs, is but also suitable to current and future needs when water resources get scarce and climate change is more complex.

No negative impact on environment

The district is now home to 5 industrial parks (Ips) and clusters, attracting 144 investment projects. Of these, VSIP III, Tan Lap Ip newly built, together with the existing IPs, including Dat Cuoc, VSIP IIA, Tan Binh, brings potential industrial development land fund to the district. The district also has many enterprises operating outside industrial clusters. But, most of them are located in areas suitable for planning. Industrial enterprises mainly focus on the fields of wood processing, brick and stone production.

DS Vina Co., Ltd. invests in the wastewater treatment system with regulations ensured

In fact, industrial production areas are a source of emissions that pollute the environment, being not only at the location where the production facilities are located, but also spreading along the water source and the wind direction if infrastructure facilities, especially the waste treatment system is not invested properly and synchronously. In order to ensure that production and business activities do not negatively affect the environment, the district’s functional agencies have regularly inspected, promptly and strictly handled violations causing environmental pollution. Depending on large or small scales, industrial production establishments must make commitments to environmental protection and reports on environmental impact assessment before going into operation, ensuring that 100% of wastewater after treatment of IPs meet current standards before being discharged into the environment.

Le Hoai Nam, General Director of KSB Co., Ltd. in Dat Cuoc commune said that the industrial park has invested in an automatic surveillance system under the law. Enterprises have a local wastewater treatment system with grade B standards, connected to the centralized wastewater system of the industrial park, and then continue treating waste water to meet the grade A standard. For daily waste, it is transferred to the collection unit while hazardous waste will be transferred to the functional unit with operation license. In addition, enterprises in the industrial park ensure the ratio of 20% green trees on production land.

DS Vina Co., Ltd. officially started production in KSB Industrial Park in 2017 in the field of weaving and dyeing. In order to ensure the production and business environment as well as protecting the health of employees, the company has invested in exhaust fumes and wastewater treatment systems, measuring the working environment...Nguyen Huu Duy Son, staff in charge of safety for the environment of the company said that the company operates in the textile and dyeing sector using chemicals, so it has participated in the Bluesign chemical control system. Before the company uses any dyeing chemicals, it must send samples to the Bluesign system in Switzerland for analysis and evaluation. And then the system will return relevant results. Currently, the company guarantees to use 100% green chemicals approved by Bluesign. During the operation, water parameters are controlled. When investing in KSB Industrial Park, the company was advised by the management board of the industrial park to build up a reservoir to store water, ensuring water treatment when there is an incident.

Thai Thanh Binh, Secretary of North Tan Uyen district’s Party Committee, Chairman of the district’s People's Committee: The district’s socio-economic development must be placed in the overall relationship of socio-economic development of the province, based on effectively tapping the advantages of the district, promoting internal resources and support of the province.
