Economic development towards the growth of quality

At the 21st open session of the Executive Board of the provincial Party Committee organized yesterday morning, Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee reported on the local socio-economic situation, national defence-security in 2018 while defining orientations, tasks on socio-economic development in 2019 with the goal of increasing the quality of growth towards sustainable evolution.

Further improving investment climate

According to a report by provincial People’s Committee, the overall objectives of the province in socio-economic development for 2019 are to promote economic development towards enhancing the quality of growth; make the shift of economic structure towards the growth of services, industrial manufacture; focus on improving the investment climate; perfect socio-economic infrastructure facilities; promote urban-service development, which will be the premise for the province to become a first-class city and implement a project on smart city construction…

The overview of the session

To realize the set targets, according to Mr.Liem, the province will further hasten the progress of construction of hi-tech parks, auxiliary industrial parks and compounds at small and medium-sized enterprises’ demand. The province will also promulgate regulations on the arrangement of industrial projects, policies encouraging industrial enterprises in the southern region to change to trade-service, urban and hi-tech industrial development. In 2019, the province will strive to raise the local index of industrial production by 9.5% compared to 2018; give priority to auxiliary and hi-tech industries, contributing to increasing the rate of localization…

Along with industrial development, the province will bend on realizing provincial Party Committee’s Program No.24-Ctr/TU dated August 16, 2017 on promoting hi-tech services for urban and industrial development for the period of 2017-2020; foster logistics and stabilize the growth of export turnover and trade surplus; organize dialogues with enterprises, industries’ associations to help enterprises remove difficulties in production-business; strengthen socialization in trade infrastructure development; tighten control over the market, preventing trade fraud and ensuring customers’ rights & interests; strive to reach the growth of services, total retail sales revenue of commodities-services and export turnover at 10.6%, 18% and 15.5%, respectively.

Mr.Liem added that the province has set a variety of measures to well realize targets for 2019, including further improving the investment climate, creating favorable conditions for business households to turn into enterprises; promote coherence between enterprises; take solutions to welcome new investment waves after the successful organization of WTA, Horasis events; continue selectively absorbing FDI projects…

In 2018, the province’s GRDP per capita reached 130.8%. The province’s index of industrial promotion (IIP) surged 9.79%. The province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services was VND191trillion, up 18%. The province’s trade surplus was more than US$4.7billion. As of November 15, 2018, the province lured more than VND52.86trillion in domestic capital, more than US$1.69million in FDI capital. The province’s State budget collection was VND50trillion, up 9% compared to the corresponding period last year.

Focusing on ensuring social welfare

Concluding the session, Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation stressed that the province’s socio-economic situation in 2018 continued getting thriving. Especially, the province reached good results in foreign affairs. Binh Duong was the first locality in Vietnam to become a member of Intelligent Community Forum (ICF).

In terms of tasks on economic development in 2019 and the following years, Mr.Nam suggested relevant agencies to bend on advising provincial Party Standing Committee on investment absorption orientations after the National Assembly approving the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The province will continue selectively luring investment projects; make a breakthrough in traffic infrastructure development via major projects: the Binh Duong new city-Suoi Tien Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route project, the Bach Dang bridge project, the North Tan Uyen-Phu Giao-Bau Bang main street…; continue hastening the progress of key works, namely Thu Bien-Dat Cuoc, DT743, My Phuoc-Tan Van…

He also asked for sectors, departments and localities in the province to well do some issues, comprising of attaching special importance to social welfare, ensuring social order-security, concentrating on administrative reform…From now till year-end, the province will put focus on taking care of poor and policy beneficiary people, helping them enjoy a warm and happy Tet. Regarding socio-cultural fields, he required relevant agencies to promote the progress of construction of provincial General Hospital as well as cultural-historical works approved, namely the Statue of the War Zone D, the Long Nguyen War Zone…
