Economic growth to be integrated to urbanization

In the past years, Binh Duong provincial authority has issued programs of breakthroughs to orient the urban development and urbanization in integration with economic growth. Social resources of different investment methods shall be mobilized and attracted to develop technical infrastructure and create a modern and civilized urbanity.

In 2012-2020, Binh Duong provincial authority has mobilized and attracted various social resources with different investment methods to develop technical urban infrastructure development, contributing to urban upgrades

Infrastructure development

On the basis of action plans, the provincial authority has mobilized and attracted the society to develop technical infrastructure and create a modern and civilized urbanity. As for traffic and the significantly synchronous traffic constructions, the reasonable connections of national, provincial and district routes are prioritized to provinces of major economic zone of the South of Vietnam.

Vo Hoang Ngan, Director of Provincial Department of Construction said: “The planning and implementing investments into traffic constructions of inter-regions such as National Highway number 13, DT741, DT744, My Phuoc-Tan Van and many more along with local and rural traffic routes  in combination with urban beautification are for local socio-economic development.”

In recent years, the provincial authority has put into use Phu Long Bridge, An Linh-An Long Bridge, stage 1 of Thanh Phuoc Port, Ong Co Bridge, and An Son Bridge. The project of bridge over Dong Nai River in Tan Uyen town has been launched. Currently, the provincial authority is verifying designs to construct roads and bridges connecting Binh Duong to Tay Ninh, extended routes of My Phuoc-Tan Van connecting Binh Duong to Ho Chi Minh City, and bidding for contractor of East-West major routes from National Highway 1A to the border of National Highway 1K.

Besides, the provincial authority has been in steps invested to complete the traffic constructions by socialization of State and public efforts in combination with urban beautification, coordinated to implement the project of improving traffic system management with focus on public traffic (by and between Japanese international cooperation agency and provincial People’s Committee), BRT buses connecting Suoi Tien station and Binh Duong Industry-Services-Urban Complex.

To fulfill the targets, the provincial authority has called for use of various public investment resources including BOT and BT to apply to new routes assuring local traffic connection such as Bac Tan Uyen-Phu Giao-Bau Bang Road, upgrade of National Highway number 13 and DT743, following up investment and fulfillment of My Phuoc – Tan Van route, East-West, North-South 3, inter-regional routes of DT741, DT744, DT746, DT747b and so on.

Besides, Binh Duong provincial authority also focused on investments into water supply and release, power grid, and synchronous power supplying system along the streets to assure urban beautification. Local authorities of the province have well implemented the decision on planting green trees, adjustment of functions of land-lots formerly managed by agencies of the State to create green parks while adding more green trees on some routes. As a result, 77 parks in the province have been constructed along with 21 under-constructing parks.

 “In Thu Dau Mot city alone, the project of renovating and managing urban green trees of Thu Dau Mot urbanity in 2011-2015 has totally 8,273 green trees. On each urban route, green trees of different types have been planted to create unique urban highlights in combination with upgrade of the existing parks to service the community activities,” said Ngan.

Urban upgrades

In 2012-2020, the provincial authority has completed general and sectional urban planning of communes. The urban development programs have been synchronous and proactive with effective funding from resources of many economic components in the process of investing into urban infrastructure. The management and investments into urban beautification have been taken care of and in place. The provincial authority has focused on investments into constructions servicing urban upgrades as the urban space is being expanded to the South, North, and Center with tight inter-connection. Social infrastructure has been invested with coupled and modern measures with complete projects of residential areas and modern high-rising buildings.

Up to date, in Binh Duong province, there are 1 type-1 urbanity (Thu Dau Mot city), 4 type-3 urbanity, 5 type-5 urbanity with expectations that within 2020 two more type-5 urbanity shall be fulfilled and profiles for setting up townships of Tan Binh, Thanh Tuyen, and Lai Hung to be submitted to Ministry of Home Affairs. According to Vo Hoang Ngan, the provincial authority for the time to come would fulfill the failed or incomplete criteria to aim for criteria of type-1 urbanity by the target of ‘developing Binh Duong urbanity in prosperous and civilized manner to improve public living quality.”

The provincial authority shall focus on refining major urban traffic routes and correct the major traffic junctions to ensure synchronous connection while ensuring the norms for green tree coverage of the urbanity and continual investments into management of urban and public green trees.
