Update: 22-04-2013 | 00:00:00

It is the content of the career guidance workshop held by Thu Dau Mot University for economics students to get closer to employers and orient their future job, confidently enter real life after graduation.

A student puts questions to business managers

Participants were representatives of enterprises: Tri Thuc Viet Co., Insurance Post Office Co., SaiGon Food Co., Ever Tech Plastic VN Co., BYF Co.,… Managers shared honestly their true stories, experiences of life and communication with new staff. This was a chance for students to talk about their concerns for job opportunities. The first step was that students had to have a résumé. According to Deputy General Director of SaiGon Food Co. Ms. Le Thi Thanh Lam, a decent CV with strong points of yourself was necessary to make a good impression on employers. Managers would prefer a writing CV to CV template, because employers could predict candidate’s personality through CV.

Some students asked about the difference between job opportunities of the three majors: general management, marketing management, international trading management of the business administration faculty at Thu Dau Mot University. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung, Director of BYF Co., shared, it was more important that students could exercise knowledge and abilities to practical jobs.

Having a good job in accordance with educational quality is the biggest concern of students. Some worried about recruitment needs of accounting. But administrators said, students did not have to be accountants after studying accounting, it would better to work initially as statistical employees before becoming accountants. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc representing Ever Tech Plastic VN Co. told good news that economics students had many opportunities of job. They could work in departments like planning, manufacturing assistant, timekeeping and wages, sale or marketing. But now there are still 70% of graduated students having jobs not in accordance with education.

Universities and colleges teach the most common understanding. To accommodate to the job, every student has to practice and equip himself with soft skills, have extensive vision as well as knowledge. Those are what employers are looking for.
