To constantly overcome drawbacks

During a recent business trip to Minh Hoa commune, we were really impressed with the spacious Minh Hoa Junior and Senior High School built near the center of the commune. Talking to us, Nguyen Kieu Dien, the school's principal, excitedly said that Minh Hoa Junior and Senior High School was established in July 2019 on the basis of merging of Minh Hoa Secondary School and Phan Boi Chau High School. The school year of 2022-2023, the school has 32 classes with 1,259 students. With the close attention of leaders at all levels, the active support from the Representative Board of students' parents and economic units located in the area, the school was built spaciously, basically to ensure enough rooms to learn; equipment is fully equipped and diverse. Therefore, educational activities are improved in quality, students' sense of learning is gradually raised.

In order to improve the quality of teaching and learning, right from the beginning of the school year, the school has launched the emulation of "teaching and studying well" in association with promoting learning and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, the movement of "building friendly schools and active students" and the movement of "each teacher is a moral example of self-study and creativity." At the same time, the school focuses on innovation of teaching methods, testing and evaluation towards developing students' ability, fostering good students and tutoring weak students, to encourage teachers to study to improve their professional qualifications, pedagogical abilities, etc.

For more than 15 years, working at the school since the school has not been merged until now, Kim Phung, a chemistry teacher, said emotionally: "Being a companion with the school from the first days until now, looking back on the journey of hardship that I have gone through, I feel very proud of the tradition of solidarity and efforts to overcome difficulties of the school's staff and teachers. I am very happy to be able to contribute my part in improving the quality of education at the school. We vow to dedicate ourselves to our dear students.”

Efforts to qualify

In order to meet the requirements of education and training tasks in the renovation time, striving for the school to reach national standards, Minh Hoa Junior and Senior High School always perform well the emulation movements launched by the department and the locality. At the same time, the school innovates management and teaching; examine and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning to step up the application of information technology; build friendly schools, active students to emulate good teaching and learning well.

Currently, the school has 100% of classrooms equipped with smart boards and fullly connected internet. The school has 5 classrooms with cameras for online teaching. 100% of teachers are arranged in the right professional training. The school's staff and teachers are always actively applying information technology in the teaching process. The school has maintained a 100% high school graduation rate for many consecutive years, which is higher than the province's overall rate. In the school year of 2021-2022, the percentage of good students in the whole school increased by 5.17%; the percentage of weak students decreased by 3%. Along with that, the school also does a good job of socializing education, advising and coordinating with social forces, benefactors, and parent representative boards to support funding, rewards, and grant scholarships in installments of nearly VND 200 million, 12 tablets, 12 smart mobile phones and 1,700 notebooks.

Nguyen Phuong Nam, a student of class 12A1, said: “Although we are students in a remote area, learning is more difficult than other schools, but we are always encouraged, cared for and created the best conditions. We are always proud to study under the school and will work hard to study together with the teachers to bring the school to the best results.”

“In the coming time, the school will continue to launch emulation movements of good teaching - learning well, in which the focus is on renewing teaching methods; invest in equipment for teaching and learning in order to strive to build schools up to national standards. Although many difficulties and challenges are ahead, every teacher still has the faith. The new school and new classrooms will contribute to creating a new face for education in remote areas, providing more motivation for teachers and students to strive to improve the quality of education,” Nguyen Kieu Dien added.
