Egypt, Vietnam convene 8th political consultation session

 Egypt and Vietnam convened the 8th political consultation session in Cairo on May 24 to enhance comprehensive cooperation in all fields, especially politics, economics and culture.

Vietnam’ Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam and his Egyptian counterpart Yesir Morad agreed that bilateral relations have witnessed breakthrough progress through high-ranking meetings and mutual support at many international forums.

With many similarities, the two countries have great potential to elevate their fine traditional friendship to a new height, they said.

The two countries should take full advantage of available strength to spur effective cooperation in economics in par with fine political relations, they reaffirmed.

On the same day, Nam met with Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Anwar El Ehwany to discuss measures to boost multifaceted cooperation in economics, trade and investment. They decided by unanimity to raise bilateral trade value to US$1 billion in the coming years.

They were committed to thoroughly prepare for the successful organisation of the 5th joint committee meeting which is scheduled to take place in Hanoi this year.
