Vietnam under the Party’s leadership set exploits during the past 88 years. Upholding this, Binh Duong grasped great victories, becoming one of top localities in industrial development.

Breakthrough in industrial development

During the past 88 years, under the Party’s leadership and over the past 20 years, with the whole political system and business community’s flexibility, creation and high determination, Binh Duong has changed day by day, generating a variety of exploits in socio-economic development; become a locality with strong development in terms of industrialization and urbanization.

A glance of Song Than industrial park

One of the province’s highlights in socio-economic development over the past time was to focus on industrial, service and urban development. In 2017, the province continued reaching important results in socio-economic development, ensuring national defence-security, contributing to maintaining the local growth momentum amid challenges. The province’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) surged 9.15% with the average GRDP per capital reaching VND120million. The province’s economic structure continued shifting towards the gradual growth of services and industry with respective proportions: 63.99% in industry, 23.68% in services, 3.74% in agriculture.

The province’s industrial production continued developing. Province-based enterprises well maintained their production-business activities; actively took solutions to promote production, improve the quality of products and reduce their price for better competitiveness…The province’s index of industrial production (IIP) increased by 10.98%. There were 23 out of 25 main industrial products of the province surging compared to the same period last year.

Along with activities to promote industrial production, the province continued implementing solutions to improve the local investment climate in a synchronous way, support startup businesses; enhance indexes on competitive capacity, administrative reform…Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that with concrete efforts to create an open and attractive investment climate together with provincial leaders’ timely and drastic instruction in major foreign affairs, the province last year absorbed more than US$2.55billion from 185 new projects, 109 extra-ones… The province has so far lured 3,034 FDI projects capitalized at US$28.33billion from 64 countries and territories around the world. The province now ranks second nationwide in FDI attraction only after HCM city.

Noticeably, the province’s export turnover reached US$28.5billion, up 17.6% compared to 2016 while import value was estimated at more than US$23.8billion. The province’s trade surplus was estimated at more than US$4.7billion.

Along with economic development, the province continued promoting socio-cultural fields. Particularly, the province well realized policies on social welfare, contributing to raising locals’ spiritual and material lives; maintained political security, social safety and order; built up a synchronous socio-economic infrastructure system, step by step meeting the local demand for socio-economic development.

Sustainable development

In 2018, based on achievements done in 2017 and five-year socio-economic development plan from 2016 to 2020, Binh Duong has set major targets, tasks for the local socio-economic development. Accordingly, the general objective of the province is to further reach sustainable socio-economic development and make the shift of economic structure towards the growth of services and industrial production. The province will also strive to gain a 9% growth of IIP compared to 2017 while carrying out industrial restructuring towards giving priority to absorbing environmentally friendly, hi-tech and auxiliary industries…

Mr.Liem said that the province will further research and set up projects to build some hi-tech-auxiliary industrial parks and compounds in order to serve small and medium-sized enterprises…The province will also increase the local retail sales revenue of commodities-services and export turnover by 20.1% and 15.5% compared to 2017, respectively. To achieve the above targets, the province will continue carrying out the local program on promoting hi-quality services for urban-industrial development in the period of 2016-2020.

Together with economic development solutions, the province will attach special importance to promoting socio-cultural and environmental fields, ensuring social welfare and dealing with urgent issues on education, health, housing…, contributing to enhancing the quality of people’s spiritual and material lives. Initially, the province will mobilize all resources to ensure social welfare, reduce the rate of poor households under the local multi-dimensional poverty approach; create jobs for 45,500 laborers with the rate of trained laborers reaching 76%; effectively realize the national target programs on job creation and poverty reduction…The province will also promote socialization for education-training; improve teaching ways, step by step enhance the quality of teaching staff, education and training, aiming to create hi-quality human resources at the local demand for socio-economic development.
