EIU opens its first school year

The Eastern International University (EIU) yesterday held an inauguration and opening ceremony of the first academic year with the participation of former State President Nguyen Minh Triet, vice PM Nguyen Thien Nhan, minister of Training and Education Pham Vu Luan, the provincial party secretary Mai The Trung, the provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung, leaders of the HCMC National University and provincial leaders through stages…

EIU invested by Becamex IDC is located on an area of 55ha, 10ha of which is for dormitory area with the total investment of over VND2tril. The university can train 50,000 students per year. The EIU has completed 12 blocks serving for teaching and management in the first phase (2011-2015) with the total area of 68,592sqm. In the first academic year, EIU lures 720 new students pursuing majors including technology, nursing and business administration.

Addressing the ceremony, vice PM Nguyen Thien Nhan said that EIU has a new and positive training model and is suitable to renewal orientation and instruction from the Government. The deputy PM also applauded EIU’s training program jointly composed by international universities from the US and Britain.

Meanwhile, the provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung said that EIU’s operation would create many chances for students to approach new training models, improving the quality of human resources for the local socio-economic development. Cung stressed that EIU helps the province conduct orientation and vision for human resources development bounding for an intellectual economy.
