Enhance education and propaganda to fight hand-foot-mouth disease

Update: 26-07-2011 | 00:00:00

Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease (HFMD) is threatening for more casualities than previous term. Therefore, the whole healthcare system in Binh Duong Province is tightening up measures to control and minimize health risk of HFMD.

Children in a kindergarten are being guided to wash their hands before meal

It is noticeable that 6 children out of 885 HFMD infected children died in the province by middle of July 2011, distributing to Thuan An Town (241 infected, no dead), Di An Town (187 infected, 3 dead), Thu Dau Mot Town (154 infected, no dead), Tan Uyen (116 infected, no dead), Ben Cat (114 infected, 3 dead), Phu Giao (50 infected, no dead), and Dau Tieng (23 infected, no dead).

Thanks to measures to control epidemics including education and propaganda, HFMD has shown decline across localities of the province. Authorities have joined hands with healthcare system to cool down effects of HFMD.

Checking for HFMD is conducted by physician at a clinic center

As confirmed by Deputy Director of Thuan An Town Clinic, Mr. Duong Thanh My, the infected cases are in private or home nursing centers and kindergartens where parents are workers who fail to access to the mass media. Besides, bad sanitation is also a cause.

After an outbreak of HFMD in June, measures have been made to control the disease; however, the Decision No. 1742 of Ministry of Health is still valuable in promoting information and preparation to fight HFMD across nursing centers and kindergartens.
