As of November 20, many businesses in Binh Duong have confirmed the Lunar New Year holiday dates for the Year of the Snake in 2025, creating favorable conditions for workers to plan their holiday time with family.
Workers of Hung Kiu Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd are excited to complete the final orders of the year, ensuring time off for Tet holiday on the 23rd of the last lunar month.
Tet preparation in a fortnight
The Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake in 2025 is coming in about 2 months, but most businesses in the province have already made plans for the holiday and are taking good care of their employees during this festive season.
Specifically, Mekong Furniture Company Limited (Thu Dau Mot City), which has 1,000 employees working, has planned for the Tet Nguyen Dan holiday for many days. The company's trade union has officially informed employees that the Tet Nguyen Dan holiday for the Year of the Snake in 2025 will last for 16 days. The holiday period will start from the 25th day of the last month of the lunar calendar.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, Vice Chairman of the Union of the Mekong Furniture Company, said that in previous years, there were times when the company allowed workers to take a 10-day Tet holiday, but it did not seem effective. Since most of the workers at the company are from far away, when the holiday time is short, the workers do not have enough time to rest because they spend many days traveling by train and bus. Additionally, there are many cases where employees return to work at the company not on the scheduled date, feeling sluggish when entering the company because they have not had time to rest and recharge after the days of traveling and celebrating the Lunar New Year.
It is known that currently many companies have finalized their Lunar New Year holiday schedule for about 2 weeks, allowing workers to return to their hometowns to reunite with their families during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake in 2025. Specifically: Response VN Co., Ltd. (Tan Uyen city) has announced the holiday schedule for all workers is 2 weeks, starting from the 23rd of the last lunar month. Rochdale Spears LLC (Tan Uyen city), where nearly 4,000 employees are working, has also announced a 2-week Tet holiday, starting from the 25th of the last month of the lunar calendar. In Bến Cát City, Phong Thái Rubber LLC has also finalized a 2-week Tet holiday schedule for its employees, starting from the 25th of the last month of the lunar calendar...
Mrs. Dinh Thi Huong, Chairwoman of the grassroots trade union of Phong Thai Rubber Company Limited, said that even though the company has quite a number of orders, the company's Board of Directors will not shorten the holiday for workers. "Most of the workers in the company are people from afar, so we must create the best conditions for them to rest during the Tet holiday and the New Year. Every year, the grassroots trade union collects opinions from the workers about the duration of the holiday and the time to return to work after the New Year, and only then makes a decision. Everyone respects the opinions of workers,” said Dinh Thi Huong.
Mr. Vu Thong Hiep, Chairman of the grassroots trade union of Hung Kiu Vietnam Garment Company (Phu Chanh Industrial Cluster, Tan Uyen City), where 1,000 workers are employed, stated that although the company has many urgent orders to complete by the end of the year, all workers in the company are making efforts to finish early; the company plans to have a 14-day break for Tet, starting from the 23rd of the last lunar month. Meanwhile, according to Mr. Mai Phu Hung, Deputy Chairman of the grassroots trade union of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Di An city), the company's holiday break begins on the 27th of the last lunar month and employees will return to work on the 9th day of the lunar new year.
Thorough care taking
Along with planning to complete targets for production, business, and end-of-year orders, the grassroots trade union of enterprises has plans to coordinate with the company's Board of Directors to take care of the Lunar New Year for the workers; ensuring that all employees receive their salary and a 13th-month bonus. Many enterprises have reported that the accounting department is reviewing the results of production and business for the entire year, and if there are higher profits, they will allocate additional end-of-year bonuses for the workers.
The grassroots trade unions have proactively linked with gift suppliers to arrange Tet gifts for union members and workers, ensuring that all employees receive a Tet gift. During the year-end meal, the grassroots trade union will coordinate with the business to organize cultural programs, entertainment, and lucky draws.
Mr. Mai Van Can, Vice Chairman of the grassroots trade union of Rochdale Spears Co., Ltd. (Tân Uyên City), said: "the grassroots trade union takes care of Tet gifts and organizes cultural programs and entertainment during the year-end period. The budget for organizing the New Year's Eve meal, along with the lottery program, is quite large, so we have to wait for the Board of Directors to decide. However, every year the company organizes this activity to ensure that all employees have a joyful Tet."
Mrs. Dinh Thi Huong, Chairwoman of the grassroots trade union of Phong Thái Rubber Co., Ltd., said that besides the year-end meal program for Tet, there are also year-end entertainment programs and lucky draws for workers. Every year, the company's leadership has special gifts for workers in difficult circumstances, visiting each dormitory to give gifts, wish them a happy new year, and share with the union members and workers of the company.
Generally, in the last months of 2024, most businesses stabilize their orders, and the production and business situation is quite good, so they actively care for the Tet holidays for their union members and workers to ensure that employees feel secure and excited after a year of work.
According to Ho Viet Tuan from Quang Ngai, who has many years of experience working at Mekong Furniture Co., Ltd. (Thu Dau Mot city), for employees far from home, it may take many years before they have the opportunity to return home for the Tet holiday. Therefore, when the company provides long breaks to help workers be more proactive in their travel arrangements and return home.
