Essential commodity prices predicted to continue to rise

The prices of many essential commodities have increased by 5%-15% and will continue to rise up from now till Tet (the lunar New Year), according to businesses.

 Owning to materials, costs for production on rise…, cooking oil producers will make adjustment in prices. The prices of various cooking oil like Tuong An, Nepture, Simply and Nakydaco have grown by VND2,000 for a one-liter bottle.

 

It is predicted that the prices of many essential commodities will continue to escalate in the coming time

 According to the results of a survey made at the retail markets in TDM town, since early December, some kinds of farm produce, including bitter melon, cucumber, gourd, small spring onion…have seen a light reduction in price by VND1,000 or VND2,000/kg. Whilst, the price of various raw vegetables now stand at VND20,000/kg, rising by VND5,000/kg.

 The prices of various shrimps, cuttles, fish…remain unchangeable while the prices of various poultry meat is going up, due to the animal feed price on sharp increase. Particularly, Tam Hoang chicken (Chinese chicken) is sold at VND58,000/kg; domestic chicken at VND130,000/kg…Meanwhile, according to small traders, although there will be enough supply, it is sure that the price of pork will increase by VND5,000/kg.

Thanks to the price stabilization program, the prices of commodities at province-based supermarkets have been “cooled down”. But, according to leaders of Citimart, Hai Long, Coop.mart, some Tet commodities such as confectionary, beverage, milk, alcohol…have also grown by 5%-15% in price...

 The Ministry of Finance's Price Control Department has predicted that the prices of some fresh food will remain at a high level, due to the increase in demand and the low supply…Along with the increase in production costs caused by many reasons, the fluctuations in gold prices and the US dollar exchange rate have made impacts on the price increase. It is predicted that the prices of many essential commodities are likely to increase slightly in December.

 However, also according to the Price Control Department, there have been a lot of impacts reducing the price increase pressure, including the supply and demand balance for goods, the price stabilization program at supermarkets…The measures to curb and stabilize prices; promote production and ensure a supply and demand balance for goods implemented by the Government will also contribute to stabilizing market prices.
