Update: 26-11-2022 | 11:06:15

In order to effectively implement the goal of "Each rural youth is a trader, each youth cooperative is an enterprise applying digital technology", Phu Giao district’s Youth Union has organized many training courses on sci-tech transfer in agriculture for Youth Union members.

With his passion for agriculture, creativity, venturesome, in 2019, Ho Hoang Hieu in An Long commune’s Bau Cam hamlet in Phu Giao district opened a mushroom farm by learning more about how to grow mushrooms through internet, newspapers and books. When grasping safe mushroom growing techniques, he boldly developed this model on a larger area with machines improved for better production, building up a closed process in mushroom production to create safe mushroom products.

Although going through many difficulties, with his perseverance and diligence, his mushroom farm has been expanded day by day with high income. His oyster, abalone mushrooms always ensure food safety and hygiene. They are popular with users and supplied to the market regularly. Currently, his mushroom farm creates jobs for 8 local workers with stable income. Mr. Hieu is one of 13 examples of young people who are good in production and business rewarded by Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People's Committee in 2022.

To replicate this model, the district’s Youth Union and Youth Federation took Youth Union members to the organic mushroom growing model of Ho Hoang Hieu. This is a start-up model with organic and environmentally friendly products. Here, Youth Union members of An Linh, An Long and Tan Long communes were equipped with creative startup knowledge and directly visited the process of making organic mushrooms from embryos to finished products.

Mr. Hieu shared: “I will invest in researching and growing more mushrooms, namely ganoderma lucidum, cordyceps… and composting organic waste from household waste to make fertilizer for farming. I am also willing to guide the local young people in terms of creative startup knowledge, sci-tech transfer to jointly develop the economy, enriching their families and homeland.”

In Tan Hiep commune, many Youth Union members have also bravely built effective models. One of the local young pioneers in startup and economic development is Nguyen Trung Thanh in hamlet 1 with the model of raising chickens in the garden under the canopy of rubber trees.

He said: "Struggling to find my own direction, I learned about the model of raising chickens in the garden under the canopy of rubber trees. In addition to my own experience, I attended training sessions organized by the local Youth Union and Farmers' Association, helping me gain more knowledge to serve the model. Initially, I raised 5,000 chickens and then boldly invested in more breeding facilities and breeding animals. Currently, the number of chickens being raised at my facility is 13,000…”.

Le Minh Hai, Secretary of Tan Hiep commune’s Youth Union said: “In the coming time, the commune’s Youth Union will also organize more field trips in order to introduce good models to Youth Union members and give startup support for Youth Union members, especially young people who have just been discharged from the army or those who have capital, but do not have startup ideas".

Nguyen Thi Minh Hang, Secretary of Phu Giao district’s Youth Union said that in order to effectively implement the goal "Each rural youth is a trader, each youth cooperative is an enterprise applying digital technology", the district’s Youth Union and Youth Federation collaborated with the district’s Division of Economics to advise the district’s People's Committee on issuing a plan to implement support policies for the local startup youths in the period of 2020-2025; organized training on sci-tech transfer in agriculture for young people; launched models on livelihood gardens, organized field trips to the models of growing clean vegetables, raising crickets...to help young people learn, know and apply digital platforms in supply and demand, actively create effective models, make continuous efforts to create new products and renew the old ones, contributing to solving difficulties and inadequacies, actively contributing to digital transformation in agriculture.

In addition, the district’s Youth Union and Youth Federation have also established, maintained and replicated models on economic development linkage, namely youth cooperation group, youth linkage model, economic youth club; effectively developed the program "One commune, one product", connecting product outputs; organized booths to introduce products by young people; expanded forms of commending and honoring young people with outstanding achievements in study and career.

“Phu Giao district’s Youth Union has cooperated with the Bank for Social Policies to support capital for startup youths; effectively exploited and used capital from the National Employment Fund, from the Bank for Social Policies and mobilize socialization sources to support young people to borrow capital for economic purposes; maintained and effectively implemented youth start-up clubs; coordinated with relevant units in organizing vocational classes and job counseling for the local Youth Union members and young people”.
