Update: 15-06-2013 | 00:00:00
After the past high school final exam, examinees are busying with university test preparation. In this year, a majority of examinees arrive at the university testing classes taught by high school teachers for their exam review.  At a university testing class in Hung Vuong Gifted School.

University testing centers are sparse learners

Earlier, examinees flocked to university testing centers in the Ho Chi Minh city to prepare for their university exams. However, in the recent years, examinees no longer review at these centers but arrive at classes taught by high school teachers.

In this year, N.S university testing center on August Revolution Road, Thu Dau Mot city only lures about 50-60 learners, reducing about 50% from the previous years. The center’s learners are mainly from rural areas.

At another university testing center on Binh Duong Avenue, Thu Dau Mot city, the number of examinees is also not high.

In the recent years, to help students pass university entrance exams, many high schools hold university testing classes for students. According to students, they choose the university testing classes in their high schools because they feel secure in mind.

Since the start of the school year of 2012-2013, Di An high school management board has positively held inspections to categorize students’ knowledge to timely improve their knowledge. In addition, the high school holds extra classes for weak students.

Tran Van Hai, headmaster of Di An high school, said “To improve students’ quality in university entrance exams, the high school has spurred to teach basic subjects for students. Moreover, teachers always guide students to choose universities in conformity with their ability. Over the past years, thanks to excelling exam review and improving quality of teaching and learning, rate of students passing university entrance exams have been increased significantly. In the 2011-2012 school year, rate of students passing university entrance exams was at over 75%”.

Tran Dinh Phu, headmaster of Tay Son high school in Phu Giao district, said “As a remote school, the high school students’ conditions of university testing preparation are limited. Right from the early school year, the high school has grasped students’ learning ability to help them improve knowledge as well as opened review classes for students”.

On these days, Hung Vuong Gifted School’s university testing center has lured many learners. With the school’s prestige, many students from other localities have registered university testing classes.
