Tong Van Huong, chairman of Minh Hoa communal Farmers’ Society said that the local cashew growers have got excited as cashew nuts this year have seen increase in price.

 Cashew nut price now stands at VND34,000 or VND35,000 per kg, up over VND10,000 compared to last year. With such price, the local cashew growers can earn more than VND60mln in profit from each hectare of cashew.

 Also according to Mr.Huong, Dau Tieng now has 613 hectares of growing cashew. With around 300 hectares, Minh Hoa commune is the largest cashew-growing area in Dau Tieng district.

 It is estimated that Dau Tieng district’s cashew-growing area this year has decreased by 28%. This is because the local farmers have changed to growing rubber and many other trees with higher economic value.
