Under the State’s policy on new rural construction, Tan Uyen district’s Bach Dang commune has focused on agricultural and rural development, promoting the local socio-economic development. The local Farmers’ Society has also helped farmers apply sci-tech advancements in agricultural production for higher economic efficiency, contributing to improving their lives.

 From agricultural to rural

 Implementation of the agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization process, Bach Dang commune has zoned its production area in association with agricultural and rural development; applied sci-tech advancements in agricultural production; realized the programs on pomelo growing, mother cow breeding; invested in rural infrastructure… 

The pomelo-growing model under VietGap standards has helped Nguyen Huu Tam’s family in Bach Dang commune secure a stable life.

 The whole commune has so far had 450 hectares of pomelo under the project of the 100ha-pomelo area with VietGap (Vietnamese Agriculture Practices) standards. The commune has also built a high-yield field and implemented a project on the collective brand name of “Bach Dang pomelo”, creating favorable conditions for the local people to raise their income.

 Between 2011 and 2012, Bach Dang has achieved 9 out of 19 criteria on new rural construction. The commune’s Farmers’ Society has concretized the action programs of the local Party Committee; mobilized members to apply sci-tech advancements in the models of animal husbandry and cultivation towards sustainable economic development.

 Emulation in production

 Bach Dang commune has well realized the emulation movement of “Good farmers in production and business”. Many outstanding farmer households in production and business now secure an average income of more than VND100mln per year.

 In addition to promoting the application of sci-tech advancements in production, the local Farmers’ Society has also helped more than 120 farmers get loans for economic development.

 The commune has also mobilized the local people to make contributions to rural infrastructure construction. Particularly, the local people contributed cash, land and plants valued at over VND400mln to building 7 streets.

 In the 2012 and 2017 tenure, Bach Dang communal Farmers’ Society will further promote the emulation movements of economic development and new rural construction among farmers. The commune’s agricultural production will further focus on the pomelo growing model; form up specialized farming areas; promote aquaculture development…
