Farmers in Vinh Tan benefit from the project of subsidiary crops field with hi-economic value

Farmers in Tan Uyen district’s Tan Vinh Hiep commune have got animated with harvest after two months of implementing the project of subsidiary corps field with high economic value. They are very delighted as their subsidiary crops fields have reached hi-yield and quality.

The project has also contributed to improving the lives of the local farmer households. Huynh Trung Kien, a local farmer said that thanks to realizing the project, his family earned nearly VND50mln of profit from a 7,000sq.m garden of bitter melons and cucumbers with total investment cost of over VND40mln.

 Many other farmer households have also successfully applied the model of growing subsidiary crops with high economic value. According to statistics from the commune’s Project Management Board, there are 2.3 hectares of subsidiary crops applying the model with total profit of each hectare estimated at nearly VND60mln, 4 times higher than the subsidiary crops fields outside the project.

 Thai Van Muon, vice-chairman of Tan Vinh Hiep communal Farmers’ Society said that most subsidiary crops fields under the new model herein have reached high yield and quality. The project has also contributed to raising the local farmers’ awareness of agricultural production. Some farmers herein have not only applied sci-tech advancement in agricultural production, but also gathered many others to set up groups of growing safe vegetables under the commercial trend…

 The whole commune now has around 725 ha of farm land, including 50 ha of subsidiary crops. Although the commune’s economy has been developed towards industry and services, agricultural production still plays an important role in economic structure of the commune. Thanks to the attention of the local authorities and farmers’ society, farmers herein have over time tried to develop and tap exiting potential of the subsidiary crops fields.

 For the project implemented well, the People’s Committee of the commune set up a management board with five members. According to the assessment of the management board, the project has received the State’s support on fertilizer, nurslings, pesticide… and benefited the local farmers.
