FDI disbursement hits USD 7.25 billion so far this year

FDI disbursement increased by USD 850 million in August, raising total FDI disbursed so far to USD 7.25 billion, a 3.6 percent rise compared to the same period last year, reported the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

 

In August, Vietnam licensed an additional 125 new FDI (foreign direct investment) projects, with a total capital of USD 2.477 billion. This satisfactory figure brought total new FDI projects in the first eight months to 658 projects, worth USD 10.79 billion, a 10% decrease in number of projects but a 41% increase in value compared to the same period of 2009.

 

Over the past 8 months, few FDI projects have registered to increase their capital. With the increased FDI capital, total FDI capital in Vietnam since early this year has reached USD11.577 billion, a 12.3% decrease year on year and half of the target of attracting USD22-25 billion this year.
