 Donate rice and necessities every month

For many years, Mekong Furniture Company Limited (Phu Tan Ward, Thu Dau Mot City) has maintained the donation of rice, necessities, and instant noodles to nearly 1,000 workers. Despite their high incomes, both the grassroots Trade Union and the company's leadership agreed that this is a vital activity in caring for employees' well-being. In addition to the above activities, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, Vice President of the grassroots Trade Union, also advised the Board of Directors and the Executive Board of the company's Trade Union to build a collective labor agreement with many benefits for female workers such as: female workers are entitled to 30 minutes of rest a day when they are tired during the month. If they do not take a rest, they will be paid overtime according to the law. Each month, 2 hours of overtime will be calculated for each female worker; in addition to the social insurance (SI) allowance for maternity leave, female workers will also receive 1 million VND in support each time they give birth...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam and the grassroots Trade Union also proposed many activities such as: buying health insurance (special package) for long-term employees and 24/7 accident insurance for all union members when signing labor contracts with the company. Mekong Furniture Company Limited's grassroots Trade Union is also one of the first units to organize the "Union Meal" program for nearly 1,000 union members and employees. Each meal costs 110,000 VND with delicious dishes. The above activities were highly appreciated by the Provincial Labor Confederation.

Meanwhile, at Apparel Far Eastern Vietnam Co., Ltd. (VSIP Industrial Park, Thuan An City), Ms. Pham Thi Duyen, Vice President of the grassroots Trade Union, is one of the enthusiastic union officials with many initiatives that bring benefits to employees, especially female employees. The company has about 4,000 employees, of which about 75% are female.

Over many years of participating in trade union activities, understanding the feelings of workers, Ms. Pham Thi Duyen and the Executive Committee of the grassroots Trade Union have created numerous meaningful activities for union members and workers, such as: program "Friends with children" provides knowledge for members to take better care of their children; advise on organizing many activities such as cultural, artistic, cooking, and flower arranging competitions; visit, give gifts, support female workers having difficult circumstances, and support monthly rent.

To ensure rights and jobs for workers, Ms. Duyen also proposed to hold vocational exams for workers four times a year. Thereby, each employee proves his/her ability to have an income commensurate with the results of his/her work, creates high labor productivity in the entire company, and increases the average income of employees from 8 to 12 million VND/person/month. The grassroots Trade Union also coordinated with the company's Board of Directors to hold a thank-you ceremony for senior employees with 15 years of service, each person receiving 1 tael of gold. In August 2024, the company's Board of Directors also organized Family Day, giving gifts worth 1 billion VND to employees having difficult circumstances.

Support for female workers who are single mothers

For employees at Phong Thai Rubber Company in Ben Cat City, Ms. Dinh Thi Huong, grassroots Trade Union President, is not only a dedicated official, but also a family member. Every year, Ms. Huong always has initiatives and proposals to take better care of female workers. In 2024, the company's Board of Directors included 5 initiatives that benefit employees in the collective labor agreement. That is to arrange parking near the workplace for pregnant workers and workers with children 12 months old or younger. Build milking and milk storage rooms for female workers with young children. Sponsorship support for children of female workers who are single mothers having difficult circumstances, the support level for the first child is 1 million VND/month and 500,000 VND/month for the second child. Support costs for female workers during menstruation at the lowest level of 60,000 VND/month. Create conditions for female workers to have a pregnancy check-up once a month and pay 100% of their salary...

In addition, with the proposal of Ms. Dinh Thi Huong, the company also signed a collective labor agreement with terms favorable to employees. Every year, the company organizes periodic health check-ups and gynecological check-ups for female workers every 6 months. Organize propagation of reproductive health, gynecological diseases and cervical cancer for female workers. Every quarter, invite specialists to the company to examine and provide timely treatment advice for all employees of the company, especially female workers with gynecological diseases or chronic diseases to receive better care...

The Provincial Labor Confederation has held a conference to commend and reward 95 "Outstanding female grassroots trade union officials" in 2024 across the province who have made many contributions to building a strong trade union organization, effectively implementing activities to care for the lives of workers, especially female workers; effectively implementing emulation movements, creative labor, having many scientific topics, promoting technical innovation initiatives, contributing to the successful completion of production and business plans.

Ms. Ong Thuy Hoang Mai, Vice President of the Provincial Labor Confederation, said that the team of female trade union officials is gradually affirming their role and position, especially in women's activities from the province to the grassroots, effectively implementing the work of mobilizing female civil servants and workers to contribute to the industrialization and modernization of the country.
