On February 21, Vietnam Railway Corporation opened a train carrying more than 200 tons of agricultural products for export from Song Than international terminal in Binh Duong province to China. The train consists of 21 carriages, including 9 refrigerated containers carrying fruits and food.
Estimated time from Song Than station to Zhengzhou (China) is 9 - 10 days. In the immediate future, the train will run once per week. This is also the first shipment in the year of the Dragon 2024 departing from Song Than station to Zhengzhou.
Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh, General Director of Vietnam Railway Corporation, said that this was the first shipment from Song Than station to China, carried out under the Prime Minister's direction on strengthening connections and perfecting connections of logistics system to promote consumption and export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products.
Binh Duong province has recently paid attention to exporting and importing goods by rail to diversify forms of transportation and improve the province's competitiveness. Currently, the Ministry of Transport is also implementing projects to upgrade and renovate Song Than station. After completing these projects, the capacity of Song Than station will reach 3.5 million tons a year and become the largest freight station in the system of Vietnam railway stations.
