The first flight from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and the Central Highlands city of Da Lat, Lam Dong province was conducted on May 7, helping to reduce the travel time between the two localities from 12 hours to one hour.
The opening of the new air route is expected to boost tourism and economic development in not only Can Tho and Lam Dong but also the Mekong Delta and the Central Highlands.
Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) and Vietravel – Asia’s leading tour operator signed an agreement to launch the Can Tho-Da Lat air route on April 23.
Vu Duc Bien, VASCO deputy director affirmed that in the first three months from May 7 to August 6, there will be two flights a week on Thursday and Sunday, using the aircraft ATR 72. An one-way ticket costs VND999,000. The fight frequency will be increaded based on demand.
Last year, the Central Highlands of Lam Dong welcomed one million visitors travelling from southwestern provinces by car while Can Tho city received more than 1.1 million domestic visitors.
