“Ranh Gioi Trang Den” (White-Black Boundary) will be released in four Southeast Asian countries on July 6 to become the first Vietnamese movie that reaches out the regional market.

This is a Vietnamese-Indonesian action movie, with production cost of around VND10 billion ($500,000).

Earlier, it was scheduled for releasing in May. The producers have announced to change the date of release to July 6, in four countries: Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. However, they do not confirm the number of cinemas that will introduce their product.

This is the first joint product between Vietnam and Indonesia. The producers are Vietnam’s Vinacinema Company and PT Jelita Ali from Indonesia.

The film, directed by Indonesian director Najantolisa, who has produced several blockbuster films in his home country, features actresses Nhu Thao and Thuy Diem from Vietnam, as well as Indonesia’s Guntur Triyono, Roger Danuarta, Siti Dewi Rahmawati, and Pang Swee Teow from Singapore.

White-Black Boundary is the story of Nguyen Lu (played by Vo Thanh Tam), a film martial arts instructor, and his younger sister Bich Thuy, who by accident are involved in a police investigation which relates to a drug-related gang led by Nghiem So Thien.

Apart from Ranh gioi trang den, Vinacinema, a Vietnamese film distributor and producer of more than 40 cinema theaters nationwide, and PT Jelita Ali are also working together on another film project called Tinh ao (Virtual Love), of which, 80 percent will be shot on location in Indonesia.
